Barcroft Bank:  Earn It. Save It. Spend It!

Learning the Value of Money, One Barcoin at a Time!

At Barcroft Academy, we believe in recognising and rewarding our pupils for their positive attitudes, achievements and commitment to academy life.

Our very own Barcroft Bank gives children from Year 1 to Year 6 the exciting opportunity to earn, save and spend Barcoins – our academy's very own currency!

Barcroft Bank is much more than a reward system. It helps children develop valuable life skills, including financial awareness, responsibility, independence and decision-making, whilst encouraging them to demonstrate our academy values every day.

How Do Children Earn Barcoins?

Children can earn Barcoins in a variety of ways, celebrating their positive behaviour, excellent attendance and personal achievements.

  • Good to be Green – 5 Barcoins each day for demonstrating positive behaviour and following our academy rules.

  • Excellent Attendance – 5 Barcoins each day for attending the academy.

  • Weekly Bonus – An additional 10 Barcoins for remaining Green and attending every day throughout the week.

  • Values Superstar Award – 10 bonus Barcoins for being recognised in our Celebration Assembly.

  • Star Reader Award – 10 bonus Barcoins for outstanding commitment to reading.

Children can earn up to 60 Barcoins in a full school week through attendance, positive behaviour and their weekly bonus, with opportunities to earn even more through special awards!

Welcome to Barcroft Bank!

Each week, children have the opportunity to visit Barcroft Bank and deposit their hard-earned Barcoins into their very own bank account.

Our fantastic Year 5 Barcroft Bank Clerks take responsibility for running the bank, helping pupils manage their savings and keeping accurate records of their balances.

Being a Bank Clerk is an important pupil leadership role, developing confidence, communication, teamwork, organisation and responsibility.

Barcroft Shop – Spend or Save?

One of the most exciting parts of Barcroft Bank is deciding what to do with those hard-earned Barcoins!

Our Barcroft Shop opens each term, giving children the opportunity to exchange their savings for a range of exciting rewards, including stationery, toys, games and other treats.

Children can choose to spend their Barcoins on smaller rewards or continue saving towards something bigger.

This encourages pupils to think carefully about their choices, understand the value of saving and experience the satisfaction of working towards a goal.

Developing Financial Skills for Life

Through Barcroft Bank, our pupils learn important lessons about:

  • Earning – Understanding that effort, positive choices and achievements can be rewarded.

  • Saving – Developing patience and working towards longer-term goals.

  • Spending – Making thoughtful decisions about how to use their Barcoins.

  • Responsibility – Looking after their currency and managing their personal savings.

  • Independence – Making their own choices and taking ownership of their achievements.

  • Leadership – Developing confidence and real-life skills through our Bank Clerk roles.

Barcroft Bank supports our commitment to personal development, helping children become confident, responsible and financially aware young people.

Every Barcoin Counts!

Whether our pupils are earning their first Barcoins, saving for a special reward or helping to run the bank, they are developing skills that will stay with them long beyond their time at Barcroft Academy.

Barcroft Bank – rewarding positive choices, encouraging ambition and unlocking potential for a brighter tomorrow!
